BIOGRAPHY
Sina Araghi was born in Tehran and moved to California with his family in 1989. He picked up his first camera when he was 13, on his first trip back to Iran to visit the ruins of Persepolis and the historic city of Isfahan. It wasn’t until high school where he became truly passionate about photography and began to spend endless hours in the darkroom or out in the field with his camera.
As a student at Santa Monica College he studied commercial photography until chance brought him to the journalism department and an inspiring journalism teacher that opened the door to the world of photojournalism.
That introduction eventually led to working positions as photo editor, and later, as the first photographer turned Editor-in-Chief of the Corsair Newspaper at SMC, where Sina and his team achieved numerous honors and awards of General Excellence for their news publication.
With that experience, Sina moved to Boston, Massachusetts and completed his studies in Print & Multimedia Journalism from Emerson College in 2006.
Sina’s clients have included Giorgio Armani Corp, Elle Décor, Time Inc., La Prensa Grafica, and SoCiArts Productions.
In the past few years his work has also been exhibited as part of the “Souvenirs From Iran” exhibit at Farmani Gallery and “Flying with the Cage” exhibit at Phantom Galleries in LA.
Most recently, Sina’s photographs can be found published in the book “Urban Iran” by Mark Batty Publishing.
He is currently based in Los Angeles where he works as a freelance photographer.
